A Quick Comment on Buying Pointe Shoes Online

September 22, 2020

Hey! Hope you all are able to attend class this week!! Several times!! If not, then do Anywhere Barre at home!! Every day!!

As books and ebooks publish, in fact the moment the return button is hit, the author has a distinct feeling that their child is flying from their fingers… Wait!! I have something else I meant to add. Something important to tell you! Wait!!

Pointe Work – Ten Reasons Why and When has been on the market a little more than a month and one thing nags at me… Only One!! LOL!!

Many of you don’t live in a city that can provide an adequate selection of pointe shoes to try on and choose from, so you must use catalogues or online sources to buy your pointe shoes. This is fine if you have a pretty good idea of your size, what brand, vamp height, shank strength, etc… In other words, you can easily order if you are an experienced dancer.

But what if you’re not??

I would NEVER use an online or catalogue service to buy a first pair of pointe shoes. Please… I recommend waiting until you can visit a reputable dance store and be fitted by a professional for your first debut pair!!

But after this, it is possible to buy shoes online if you are careful and use the following guidelines:

1. NEVER order just one pair!! Try for a minimum of three pairs which is less than the half dozen pairs that I like young dancers to try on!! Remember that pointe shoes are hand made and even the same size and style can fit differently.

2. NEVER sew ribbons or elastic on a pair of shoes unless you are absolutely sure that the shoes fit and that you intend to keep the shoes. No shoes can be returned if the bottoms are dirty or if ribbons or elastic are sewn on the shoes.

3. Promptly return any shoes you do not intend to buy. Do not wear or wear out around the house. Try them on as you would in a store. If they don’t fit, then return.

That’s it!! But I woke several times last week with this on my mind!! So I just wanted to LUK!! This can be a good way to try different brands and strengths that are not usually available in your local store.

A dancer is always searching for the perfect pair of pointe shoes but with the online and catalogue stores, the possibility is right there in front of you. Just PLEASE follow the rules!!

Keep dancing!! Keep moving!! Stay Strong!! Many Thanks for your support and encouragement!!
